What is Return Home not?

Return Home is not therapy or counseling. We operate as a consultation service to help you better understand your loved one’s experience with serious mental illness. Our own diagnosis with serious mental illness and extended path to healing gives us the perspective you need.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s recommended to have at least 1 one-on-one session a month for 6 months to truly develop “healing habits” surrounding your relationship with your loved one. It is important to note that we do offer more than just these one-on-one sessions, and the holistic approach is to integrate our other services as well. These include:

  • One-on-one sessions with you (family member)
  • Mediated conversations between you and your loved one
  • One-on-one sessions – a conversation including us and your loved one
  • Family support groups – perfect for understanding that you are not alone in supporting your loved one through their journey jserious mental illness.

These offerings can be combined into a customized package, tailor made for you and your family’s needs.

Does Return Home take insurance?

No. Return Home’s goal is to assist you in the most effective ways possible, and insurance structures would limit our approach to providing you support.

Why Return Home instead of therapy or counseling?

We encourage the combination of our services and therapeutic methods. As much as we would love to be a one-stop shop, Return Home is more focused on education and the tools that you need to understand how to interact with your loved one in a new way.

The education and tools we provide includes:

  • Internal workings of mental illness, from the perspective of someone who’s been there
  • Emotional intelligence – How mental illness amplifies and confuses emotions
  • Learning how to regulate the nervous system and release emotions to better respond from a place of neutrality, and why this is important.
Are there any discounts?

Currently there are no active discounts for our services. We are working to form community partners in Oregon, and with these there are discount opportunities.

Return Home also has the goal of building a foundation to provide financial assistance for access to individuals experiencing financial instability.

We do offer family support groups, a less expensive alternative to one-on-one session that will let you experience Return Home’s methods.
