Spending significant time in psychiatric facilities and jail due to mental health struggles can introduce a lot of challenges. For those of us who have been “locked up,” our perspective on the world is uniquely shaped. We often carry the understanding of what it’s like to be confined behind bars or large sliding doors. The criminal justice and mental health systems are not designed to teach us how to achieve freedom beyond the physical body—but that’s where we can step in and help ourselves.

Understanding Mental and Emotional Freedom

True mental and emotional freedom begins with understanding our behaviors, patterns, and how they’ve shaped both our past and present reality. With the guidance of spirituality, we realize that freedom doesn’t have to be a complicated or unreachable concept. When we discover something that’s not working in how we’re functioning, we can choose to surrender and trust that the solutions can present themselves, instead of using our mind to problem-solve.

The Power of Surrender in Every Moment

Freedom doesn’t have to be distant. Instead, it’s a step-by-step process that we can tap into within any moment, no matter the circumstances. The practice of surrender allows us to release our grip on anger, frustration, or confusion and trust what comes next. For instance, I recently encountered fear around not knowing how I would pay for my dog’s ACL surgery, and make sure she recovers well since I’m currently living out of the car. When I regularly surrendered this fear to spirit, over time my mind became calm. I began to feel relaxed, and I learned to follow my guidance without force. The solutions were simply doors waiting to be opened, but needed to have a break from the fear that causes the mind to try and solve the problem.

It’s very easy for those of us who have been incarcerated or hospitalized to think there is a solution to find. And that we need to constantly be searching for the next solution. But maybe it’s a recalibration to understanding all we need to do is continuously let go of the search, and instead let spirit guide us to the solution that will surprise us.

Your Path to Liberation and Self-Sufficiency

Our goal is to see you truly explore freedom. It’s so easy for us to think that our walking away from the jail, prison, or psychiatric unit is as free as we will become. But the true goal here is to see what liberation looks like when we trust that we can cultivate a deeply personal relationship with spirituality. What happens if we begin to trust ourselves and the process to remembering our healing and wholeness?

We are here to support you in discovering your path to liberation through your own intuitive guidance system. Our mission is to empower you to become self-sufficient, reducing your dependence on systems that, while they may have helped and continue to help in some ways, have also contributed to continuing struggles and challenges.
